Leave Squarespace without losing your look
A faster website, no Squarespace plan to renew, and the same site your visitors know.
What stays the same
- The look
- Your colours, fonts, layout and photos, rebuilt so visitors recognise your site.
- Your content
- Every page, text and image, moved across so nothing is retyped.
- Your page addresses
- The same links, so search rankings and links from other sites keep working. Anything that moves gets a redirect.
- Your contact form
- It works the same for your visitors, with spam protection added.
- Your domain and email
- Still yours, and your email keeps working throughout.
What changes
- A lower yearly cost
- Squarespace plans start at around $20 a month, about $240 a year. On my platform, Lights on is $100 a year, and Looked after is $300 a year with your small changes made for you. Plans and prices change, so check Squarespace's current ones.
- Faster pages
- Pages are built ahead of time and served from Cloudflare's global network, so they open almost instantly, especially on a phone.
- You own the files
- The site is a set of plain files that you can take anywhere, not a layout locked into one company.
- Changes are made by me
- With Looked after, ask and I do it, usually within two business days. With Lights on, small changes are $20 each, or 3 for $50, and bigger ones are quoted before I start.
What does not move
Some Squarespace features are tied to the platform: its online store and checkout, member areas, built-in appointment scheduling and blog comments. I don't pretend otherwise. In the free review I'll tell you what you use, and what to use instead: a payment link, a booking service, or staying on Squarespace for that part. If a shop is the heart of your business, Squarespace may well be the right place for it.
How it works
1
Free review
I look at your site and tell you honestly what moves across and what does not.
2
Fixed quote
A price for the whole job before anything starts.
3
Rebuild and check
I rebuild your site and compare it against the live one, page by page, on desktop and phone.
4
Approve and switch
You approve it, then I switch your domain over. You keep your Squarespace plan until the new site is live.
What it costs
A fixed quote after the free review. A site of up to 5 pages is priced like a new simple website, $499. A bigger one is a fixed price for the move. Afterwards your site is looked after month to month: Lights on at $9.99 a month, or Looked after at $29.99 a month.
