1. Start with a simple website
A fast, brochure-style website: what you do, your best photos, where you are and how to reach you. You choose a look from my palettes, fonts and effects, and I design it around your business, starting from your Instagram, your logo and any websites you like. I take inspiration, never copy.
Simple website
$499* one price
Design, build, setup and launch of your website, with a look chosen from my palettes, fonts and effects. Your domain is yours: bring the one you have, or I help you register one.
*Instalments are available on request. Prices in CAD. Pay by Interac e-transfer or card.

What's included
- Up to 5 pages, designed around your business, your colours and your photos, with effects from my menu such as fade-in and a photo band
- Ready-made sections to mix on your pages: a top image with your promise, text, what makes you different, services and prices, how it works, and FAQs
- One photo gallery with a full-screen viewer (about a dozen photos) and one slideshow strip
- A section for your reviews: the quotes you send me, with a link to your Google reviews if you have them
- Fast pages that open almost instantly on a phone, served from a global network
- Tap-to-call phone number, map, contact form with spam protection, and links to your Instagram and other pages
- Your domain connected, or I help you choose and register one (you pay the registrar directly)
- Search engine basics: page titles, descriptions, image text and a sitemap, and your site connected to Google Search Console so you can see how people find you
- Two rounds of revisions, a short handover guide, and two weeks of support after launch
What's not included
- Projects with their own pages, a catalogue, or more pages and galleries (see the add-ons)
- A design made from scratch (see Custom)
- Writing your text or taking photographs
- A blog, an online shop with a cart, member logins or comments: these need a platform like Squarespace, which I also build on
After launch, every site on my platform is looked after month to month. See the two options below.
Pick your look
Click a style to see it on a small sample page, on a computer and on a phone. Your site gets one of these looks, adapted to your business.
Pick your look works best on a computer or tablet, where you can see the sample and the choices together. Open this page on a bigger screen to try it, or try it here.
Your site gets one of these looks, adapted to your business, photos and logo. Phones always get a menu button.
2. Add what you need
Each add-on raises one limit or adds one thing, and is added to the $499. Choose what you need now, and add more later.

Keeping your website looked after
Every site on my platform, simple or custom, is looked after month to month, and needs one of these two options, because that is what pays for its hosting. Pick the level that suits you. If you would rather have neither, I hand over your site's files and you host it anywhere you like. Websites built on Squarespace are different: you pay Squarespace directly, so there is no hosting to choose. If you would like me to make your changes and be your Squarespace person, Looked after works there too, at the same $29.99 a month, for small updates and support.
Lights on
$9.99 / month
or $100 a year (about $8.33 a month)
Hosting, HTTPS, security updates and your contact form with spam protection. If something breaks, I fix it.
For people who rarely change anything.
Looked after
$29.99 / month
or $300 a year (about $25 a month)
Everything in Lights on, plus small updates whenever you need them (text, photos, opening hours and prices) and support by email. You never count them.
For people who would rather just send a message.
Pay yearly and get ten months for twelve. Interac e-transfer is the easiest way to pay. Your domain renewal stays with you at your registrar.
Prefer to edit the site yourself?
Squarespace is the right tool if you want to log in and change things yourself, or if you need an online shop, memberships or bookings built in. I still build on it as a one-time project, at the same three package prices as above, plus a training session so you feel at home. You subscribe to Squarespace yourself, so the account and its monthly cost are yours from day one. If you would like me to be your Squarespace person afterwards, Looked after works here too: $29.99 a month for small updates and support. The Squarespace subscription stays with you.
Want out of your website builder?
Squarespace is my specialty: I move your site to a faster one with no Squarespace plan to renew (care is from $100 a year), keeping the look your visitors know and your page addresses. Wix, GoDaddy and other builders on request, rebuilt by hand. A site of up to 5 pages is priced like a new simple website, from $499.
How your site is built and looked after
- Fast and secure
- It is hosted on Cloudflare's global network, so pages open quickly wherever your customers are.
- Nothing for you to patch
- Your site has no plug-ins or server software to keep updating. The tools I build it with, and your contact form, are kept up to date by me as part of Lights on.
- Nothing is ever lost
- Every version of your site is saved, so any change can be undone.
- Yours to take anywhere
- It is a set of plain files, so you are never locked in to me or to anyone else.

Questions
I already have Instagram. Do I need a website?
Keep using Instagram: it is a great way to show your work and to be found by word of mouth. A website does a different job. It is what appears when someone searches your name, it opens for people who do not use Instagram, and it is the one place that is fully yours. Many customers look a business up before they call, and a simple page with your services, photos and phone number is what they find.
How does the pricing work?
You pay once for the website: design, build, setup and launch. A simple website is $499, add-ons are added to that when you need them (Showcase $149, Catalogue $199, More pages $99, Get found on Google $149, See your visitors $99, and 3 small changes for $50 once you are live), and a custom website starts at $2,500. Then you pick how much looking after it gets, month to month: Lights on at $9.99 a month or $100 a year, or Looked after at $29.99 a month or $300 a year. Paying yearly gets you ten months for twelve. Prices are in Canadian dollars. Instalments for the website are available on request.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes, on request. Get in touch and we will agree a plan that suits you.
How do I pay?
Interac e-transfer is the easiest way, for the website, the monthly or yearly plan and any changes. If you would rather pay by credit card, I can send you an invoice with a card payment link.
What does Lights on include?
The use of my platform: fast, secure hosting with HTTPS on a global network, security and software updates, your contact form with spam protection, and a fix if something breaks. Your domain stays with you and renews at your registrar.
What is the difference between Lights on and Looked after?
Both keep your site online: hosting, security updates and a fix if something breaks. Looked after adds small updates, such as text, photos, hours and prices, and support by email. If you rarely change anything, Lights on is enough, and you can move up or down any time.
What is the difference between a simple and a custom website?
A simple website uses a look chosen from my palettes, fonts and effects, with my proven page layouts, so it is clean, professional and quick to launch. Add-ons raise its limits, for example more projects or a catalogue. A custom website is designed from scratch around your brand, page by page, including your own project pages. If you can describe your site in a sentence, such as what you do and how to reach you, it is probably a simple one. If the design itself helps you sell, it is a custom one. Many custom projects start as a simple website and grow.
Is the website really up to 5 pages for one price?
Yes. A site of 3 pages and one of 5 pages cost the same, so you never pay per page. A gallery counts as a page, and one is included. If you need up to 8 pages, add More pages, which includes up to 3 galleries, and 3 more pages or galleries are $99. A shop, member logins or a more custom design is a different kind of site.
What counts as an add-on?
A pack adds a new kind of page or service to the simple website, with some room included and a simple way to get more. Showcase gives each project its own page: up to 8 projects, 5 more for $99. Catalogue gives each item its own page with an Enquire button or payment link: up to 10 items, 10 more for $149. More pages takes you from 5 to 8 pages, including up to 3 galleries, and 3 more pages or galleries cost $99. Get found on Google helps with your Google Business profile and local details. See your visitors adds simple visitor numbers. Small changes is a bundle of 3 edits for $50 (text, photos, hours or prices), or $20 for one, and is included with Looked after. Each one is added to the $499 and paid the same way.
What if I need something that is not listed?
Ask. Small things, such as a booking link or a special treatment for one image, are quoted as an extra before I start. If the total gets close to $2,000, it is usually cleaner to treat it as a custom project with one price.
What about Google and seeing my visitors?
Your site is connected to Google Search Console, which shows how people find you, and that is included. The Get found on Google add-on helps with your Google Business profile and local details. See your visitors adds simple visitor numbers without cookies, so there is no pop-up banner. If you want Google Analytics or Google Ads tracking, I can add your tag, but those use cookies, so they need a cookie notice and are quoted as an extra.
Do you build blogs or online shops?
Not on my platform. It is made for brochure, portfolio and catalogue websites, where I make the changes for you. If you need a blog you publish yourself, a shop with a cart and shipping, member logins or comments, Squarespace is the better home, and I build on it too.
Can I leave?
Yes, any time. There is no contract. A site on my platform needs one of the two care options while it is hosted with me. If you stop, I hand over the site's files and you host them anywhere you like. Your domain is already yours, so it stays with you.
What if my website is on Squarespace?
Then there is no hosting to choose, because you pay Squarespace directly for the platform, and I build the site as a one-time project. If you would like me to make your changes and be your Squarespace person afterwards, Looked after works there too: $29.99 a month, or $300 a year, for small updates and support.
What happens if a payment is missed?
I will get in touch first. If it is still unpaid after 30 days, your site is paused, not deleted, and I send you your files. Nothing is removed without notice.
Do I own the website?
Yes. Once it is built and paid for, the design and content are yours, and your domain is in your name. If you leave, you take the site's files with you.
What counts as a small update?
Text, photos, opening hours and prices: the everyday changes. With Looked after they are part of your monthly price, so you never count them. With Lights on, small changes are $20 each, or 3 for $50. Anything bigger, such as a new page, a new section or a redesign, is a fixed price for the result, quoted before I start.
Are there setup or activation fees?
No hidden fees. The website price covers the design, build, setup and launch. After that you only pay the monthly or yearly price you chose. Your domain is a separate yearly cost paid directly to your registrar.
Is my domain included?
No. Your domain is yours, and prices vary, usually about $11 to $24 a year, so I do not include it in my prices. If you already own one, I connect it to your new site. If you do not, I help you choose and register one, and you pay the registrar directly. The .ca ending needs a Canadian presence, so clients elsewhere get a .com. Premium names that someone else is selling, and special endings such as .io or .ai, cost more.
Can I edit the website myself?
On these plans you ask and I make the change. That is the point: you never have to log in to anything. If you would rather edit your own site, a Squarespace website is the better fit, and I can build one for you.
Can I customize my package?
Yes. The add-ons cover the usual needs, and small extras are quoted one by one. If what you want is not listed, ask. Once the total passes about $2,000, it is cleaner as a custom project with one price.
Why not just use Squarespace or Wix?
They are good tools, and Squarespace is the right choice if you want to edit the site yourself or need a shop or memberships. A site built the way I build most of them loads faster, has no Squarespace or Wix plan to renew, only a small month-to-month or yearly care option, and is not tied to one company's tools, but you ask me for changes instead of making them yourself.
